Archived: TfL Journey Planner Updates – 04 April

Welcome to the latest instalment from the Journey Planner team, designed to keep you up to date with new timetables, stops and points of interest which have been added to the system and timetable data sources over the past week. The Unified API is updated with new Journey Planner data up to five times a week.

ESpring / Summer Timetables for all River Bus services (RB1 RB1X RB2 RB4 RB5 and RB6) are now available, as well as those for Thames River Services, Circular Cruise Westminster and Thames River Boats. Embankment Pier has now reopened.

Data Highlights this Week

From Saturday 8 April, Route 100 will no longer run between London Wall, Museum of London and Elephant & Castle, and is replaced on this section by Route 388 which is diverted between Liverpool Street and Mansion House Station via London Wall and St Paul’s Station and is extended beyond Blackfriars to Elephant & Castle via Blackfriars Road and Southwark Station.

Stops

A small number of changes this week, mainly related to coordinate and name changes. New stops have been added in the Surbiton area.

Step-free Access

To complement improvements to the website interface and the growing demand for improved accessibility information within Journey Planner and API, we have started a comprehensive programme to audit and improve National Rail step-free access information for stations within London and the South East. The process is well underway, and allows planning of “step-free to platform” journeys using National Rail, Overground and TfL Rail within London, and to a wide number of stations within Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Oxfordshire.Surrey and Sussex. Includes train -bus connections across London and the South East, unlocking a large number of through multi-modal accessible journeys

95% of bus stops in London are accessible to wheelchair users, however, we are now starting a project which labels the small number of inaccessible bus stops and removes them from Journey Planner and API solutions when “Full step-free access” is selected. We are progressing through on a borough-by-borough basis, and, so far, work has been completed for Barking & Dagenham (see stops section)
