Our site is a busy one, with 75% of Londoners using it.  We have around eight million unique users a month and each year we receive 250 million visits, which continues to grow.

Why change?

We’re keen to ensure we put your needs, as the customer, at the heart of what we do.

We’ve listened to what you’ve said about our site and we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to produce something which you’ll love.

You’ve told us our site needs to be great on all devices, remember your journeys and places, and use features such as GPS to plan a journey from your current location.

You also want us to make things simpler and more integrated, so you don’t have to waste time going between different sites and tools.

To make this a reality we’ve had to start from scratch and build something completely new.  At every stage we’ve tested the site with customers, in a process we call ‘user-centred design’.

A ‘beta’ website

We know it can be uncomfortable when things change, so we’re launching a ‘beta’ website to get everyone used to it and gather feedback to make the site even better.

When we launch the beta it will have:

  • A new design – working across mobile, tablet and desktop
  • Redesigned Journey Planner – simpler and easier to use
  • Google Maps and Streetview – integrated within Journey Planner
  • Service status with faster updates
  • New content and navigation – easier to find tools and content

After that we’ll be adding new features and content until it’s time to retire the old site.

Keep an eye out for the beta launch, when you’ll be able to give feedback on the new site.

  1. Really great to see a preview and to see TfL taking a mobile-first approach – and above all, maintaining that essential customer focus that’s made tfl.gov.uk so successful. Can’t wait to see the beta!

  2. Hi there! This is my first comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout
out and tell you I genuinely enjoy reading through your
blog posts. Can you recommend any other blogs/websites/forums that deal with the same subjects?

    Thank you so much!
