  1. With Night Tube commencing in August it would be useful to give developers information on how the train times are going to be handled during the extra hour we get when the clocks change at 2am on the 30th October 2016 as the time will go 01:00, 02:00, 01:00 (then this hour is repeated till the second 02:00 that morning). This may well cause applications some confusion including tools like the TfL Journey planner.

The leap hour in March 2017 may be easier to cope with but still needs notification about what will happen to the times in the various data feeds.

    1. Thanks for raising an important point. Journey Planner and the API resets automatically for the clock change. We have confirmation from London Underground that special timetables will be added for the clock change weekends, and these will be added to the system as soon as they are available, generally around 2-3 weeks in advance.

      1. It will be interesting to try the journey planner on the clock change nights when the timetables are loaded – it should be possible to arrive before you have left ! (at least by the time on the clock) We will see if the journey duration calculations are corrrect or not – hopefully they will not be negative.

The aviation industry cope with the changes by using UTC for all flight throughout the world and just convert the time to local clock time for the public.

  2. Journey Planner doesn’t seem to take into consideration that Camden Town is exit only at certain times this week. I’m still being suggested journeys which enter at Camden Town. Is it possible to correct this, or will things be back to normal before you’re able to release a fix?

  3. Thanks for the comments. The basic issue is that Journey Planner offers journeys from platform to platform as the default. Where a station on a single line operates as exit only, the timetable is then adjusted to be “set down” only, as is done at certain stations on New Year’s Eve. However, as there is a need to preserve the interchange at Camden Town between the Edgware and High Barnet branches, this can’t be done.

However, if accessibility settings are used, ie I can only use stairs or escalators, Camden Town is avoided, as the downward stairs and escalators are removed when the exit only status applies. A revision of how exits are presented is a possibility in the future which would help to resolve this.

  4. I live just off the New Kings Road and by Putney Bridge. How can I get out without a bus and unable to take my car in either direction on Sunday. I am very old, can’t walk more than a mile and always go to Church at either the Chelsea Hospital or The Guards Chapel. Can you tell me how I am to do this on Sunday 30th – and why those of us whose homes are there; pay their rates there and Respark have to remove their cars and are replaced by bicyclists from anywhere , who pay none of these. Also why is it not possible for cyclists to use the Olympic Park and not behave like this to all of us.
