Developers Using TfL’s Open Data Feeds

On Tuesday 20 December at 14:40, we deprecated support for older cypher suites such as SSLv3, TLS 1.0 & 1.1. This is in line with security best practice and helps protect our free services from the security issues identified in older versions of these technologies.

We've rolled back our change, giving open data users extra time to update their tooling to support modern TLS versions (1.2 and 1.3)

Unified API: Taxi Ranks Added to Places

Taxis are an important, trusted and iconic part of London’s transport system, and they also offer a vital service for disabled people. There are currently around 640 taxi ranks in the capital, serving key locations and one in five of all taxi journeys start at a rank. We have released the location of all London taxi ranks in our Unified API, allowing open data users to enhance or develop new apps and products for customers planning taxi journeys.

Taxi rank data for ranks closest to stations, such as this one outside Waterloo, is now available to app developers through our Unified API

Proposed Tube Strike – Tools to Help You Plan Your Journey

**Planned industrial action by drivers on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Piccadilly lines this week has now been suspended**

Some drivers on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Piccadilly lines who are RMT union members are planning to strike from the evening of Tuesday 6 December. We will run as many services as possible depending on how many employees are available. However, we advise customers to plan for no Piccadilly line service and a significantly reduced service on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines until the end of the day on Wednesday 7 December. Customers are advised to complete their journeys on these lines by 19:00 on Tuesday 6 December.

Interchange stations and lines will be much busier than usual. Services on other Tube and rail lines, the bus network and river will run as normal but are expected to be busy as passengers seek alternative routes. Roads in west, central and east London will also be busier than usual.

We have a variety of digital tools available to help you get around during the disruption.

Wifi Data Trial – Understanding London Underground Customer Journeys

TfL is conducting a four week trial, collecting depersonalised (pseudonimised) WiFi connection data in order to better understand how London Underground passengers move through stations and interchange between lines. The data will be collected at 54 Tube stations within Zones 1-4, and if the trial is successful the intention is that the data could be used to improve services, provide better travel information and help prioritise investment across the Tube network.
